O-fish-ially proud of our involvement with the Mariners!

Grimsby Fish Market would like to congratulate Grimsby Town FC on a remarkable season.

The organisation has been delighted to support the club as its first ever warm-up top sponsor, with the iconic haddock design lending itself perfectly to the partnership.

When the deal was announced in August it was described as a ‘real celebration of Grimsby’s fishing heritage’.  The club’s crest features a trawler and three fish, with the market providing the link between the town’s seafood might and the North Sea catch it is synonymous with.

Players have worn the tops on matchdays before donning the famous black and white stripes for kick-off, and the 2025/2026 campaign has turned out to be an incredible feast. Not only did the Mariners secure a place in the promotion play-offs with a seventh place finish, ensuring they were competing almost to the very last, they beat Manchester United in the League Cup – one of three encounters with top-flight opposition this season.

That clash with Premier League royalty meant television exposure at a level rarely seen by the club, and while ultimately not making the leap up a division having narrowly lost in extra time to fourth place Salford after two legs, they accumulated one of the highest points hauls in the season, with further progress clear.

“The warm-up top’s iconic haddock design linked the industry, town and club beautifully, so it was a perfect opportunity for Grimsby Fish Market to get involved,” operations director Danny Payne said. “It has been a fantastic season, with memories made to last a lifetime, and while there is a tinge of disappointment in not quite getting over the line this year, or booking that place at Wembley – where the tops would have looked mighty fine under the famous arch – we’re so proud of the team’s efforts and our role with them. We look forward to working with the club again as it continues to build and progress.”

Alongside the warm-up top sponsorship, Grimsby Fish Market parent company Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises Ltd has also been a visible supporter within Blundell Park, taking pitch-side advertising hoardings for the market and Port of Grimsby East – the quayside operation that sits a kilometre as the seagull flies from Grimsby Town’s Pontoon Stand ‘home end’, itself named after a section of the port estate. Match ball sponsorship and further corporate support has also been provided as the season unravelled.

Rest well Mariners, and all the very best for 2026/2027. UTM!
