Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises Ltd has entered into a new rental agreement to support ice handling on the market.
Talks that began in Barcelona at Seafood Expo Global have led to the deal, with the organisation singing up for iTub’s 660l PR bins.
From initial discussions in early May, the first containers were on site by the end of the month.
Danny Payne, operations director, was part of a three-strong team that travelled to Spain.
“The durable, reusable tubs minimise waste and lower long-term expenses, improving logistics and saving time and resources,” he said.
“This new rental agreement is part of a wider project to enhance our box-washing facilities on the market, as part of a closed loop service with our seafood suppliers.”
iTUB is an Icelandic seafood logistics specialist.
Vilbergur Gestsson, customer services manager, said: “It is always nice when a conversation at a trade show turns into something real, and fast.
“That is exactly how the rental model is meant to work. Reliable bins ready for daily operations, available when the market needs them.
“A big thank you to the team at Grimsby Fish Market for the trust. We are happy to be part of its everyday operations and look forward to seeing the bins in use, season after season.”
The iTUB 660 container is described as a multi-functional and easy to handle container. It is triple-walled with a PE core, stackable and fitted with hoisting grips, while offering easy access on two sides for pallet jacks, and fork lift access on all four sides.
